OIL SPILL: 10-20-20, BROADKILL BEACH, DELAWARE BAY & OCEAN CITY, MD

 
 

An oil spill was detected on October 20, 2020 on Delaware Bay beaches.

As of this weekend – 1) 70 tons of oily debris had been collected (tar balls, patties, oiled wrack); and 2) US Fish & Wildlife Service (USFWS) shoreline assessment teams identified gulls and shorebirds that were oiled on MD and DE beaches. Tri-State Bird Rescue and Research (TSBRR) & USFWS teams worked together to locate oiled birds.
